Oregon Teaching Licensure

In accordance with the rules established by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC), the Bushnell University Department of Teacher Education offers comprehensive programs leading to a PK-12 Preliminary Teaching License.

While the license issued by TSPC is PK-12, Teacher Candidates must choose an endorsement area. Candidates interested in teaching at the elementary level will choose the Elementary – Multiple Subjects endorsement. Candidates interested in teaching at the secondary level will choose a Content Area endorsement.

Endorsements may require further coursework, standardized tests, and field experiences specifically designed for the chosen Content Areas. Bushnell University offers endorsements in Advanced Mathematics, Basic Mathematics, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Integrated Science, Health, Language Arts, Elementary – Multiple Subjects, Social Studies, Physical Education, Special Education, and World Language – Spanish.

Additional information regarding coursework can be found in the Bushnell University Catalogue, available online at https://www.bushnell.edu/academics/academic-services/registrar/academic-catalog/

The Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) regarding licensure can be located on the TSPC website at https://www.oregon.gov/TSPC/Pages/index.aspx.

TSPC eLicensing Account and Background Clearance

All Teacher Education students must create an eLicensing account on the Oregon TSPC website. You can visit their website at https://www.oregon.gov/tspc/LIC/Pages/Forms_ and_Instructions.aspx
This account is used to register for the pre-fieldwork Fingerprinting and Background check and is used again following completion of the program for licensure. Background checks are a part of the admissions process and must be submitted with the application packet. Official acceptance into the program is contingent upon a cleared background check.
