Hazing Prevention

Bushnell University, with a foundation in the Christian faith, is committed to holistic student development in the context of our vision, mission, and core themes. We have established policies and community guidelines that will foster a living-learning environment consistent with our values.

Hazing—no matter how minor it may seem—can cause lasting harm and has no place in our community.

Bushnell’s Anti-Hazing Policy was created to:

  • Protect students from physical, emotional, and psychological harm.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and accountability.
  • Comply with state and federal law, including the Stop Campus Hazing Act, which strengthens reporting and prevention requirements under the Clery Act.
  • Educate our community about the risks and consequences of hazing, and empower students to speak up.

By enrolling as a student at Bushnell University, you agree to live according to the expectations outlined in the Student Handbook including the Anti-Hazing Policy (linked below). Non-matriculated students admitted to special programs are also expected to maintain these standards. Any questions regarding these statements should be directed to the Vice President for Student Development.
