  • For 130 years, our university has been dedicated to preparing students for lives of service.
In this month’s 130-year anniversary look back, we reflect on moments like EBU Day, ETC Day, and simple acts of lending a helping hand, with each one giving our students the opportunity to serve the community as Christ did.

  • Noely Flores Fonseca ’25 gained real-world insight into law enforcement through her fall internship last year!

As a recent forensic psychology graduate, she worked alongside officers with the @eugenepolicedepartment, riding on patrol, engaging with the community, and learning what it truly means to serve and protect. Time spent connecting with local businesses during downtown patrols reinforced her understanding of how safety and trust are built between police and the community.

The internship allowed Noely to apply concepts from her forensic psychology coursework while developing professional skills such as communication, observation, and situational awareness. Most significantly, her experience with the Eugene Police Department brought clarity to her future goals in law enforcement, solidifying her desire to pursue a career as a police officer.

Reflecting on the experience, she encourages other students to approach internships with curiosity and initiative. “Look at the most random places,” she advised. “You never know where you can get an internship. Try to make the most of it, make good connections, and talk to as many people as you can.”

Great work, Noely!

  • Today, we pause to remember the legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King’s sermons, teachings, and life continue to inspire us to pursue love, justice, and faith in our everyday lives and within our community.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” - Micah 6:8
